Biology department was founded in 1982. There are 5 main branches in the biology department, Botany, General Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Zoology. The Degrees of M.S. and Ph.D. in biology are offered by the Institute of Science and Technology of GAZI University in cooperation with Biology department. Education was begun in 1982-1983 fall semester. In the department three are 17 Professors, 7 Assoc. Professors, 5 Ass. Professors, 21 research assistants, 1 experts.

B. D. graduates assume Biologist title. Graduates can study in the laboratories of Ministry of Health, hospitals; Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Forestry also can be Teacher of Biology.
