The Faculty of Arts and Science at Ankara Gazi University was established in the 1978-1979 academic year under the Academy of Economics and Administrative Sciences as the Faculty of Statistics and Basic Sciences. It was connected to Gazi University as the Faculty of Arts and Science in 1982.
The Faculty of Arts and Science has a high reputation for its distinguished academic staff, excellent academic programs and physical conditions. The Faculty of Arts and Science which is at the main campus of Teknikokullar, is composed of three blocks which are connected to each other.
The faculty of Arts and Science has the following 14 departments: Department of Statistics, Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry, Department of Biology, Department of Philosophy, Department of History, Department of Art History, Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Department of Modern Turkish Dialects and Literatures, Department of West Languages and Literatures, Department of Russian Language and Literature, Department of Archaeology, Department of Turkish Folklore.
At the Faculty of Arts and Science, there are 3994 students having education, the period of education is 4 years, and the language of the education is Turkish. In order to have better education quality, the studies about accreditation and minor-double major programs still continue at the departments of the faculty.
The main aim of The Faculty of Arts and Science is to bring up scientists and researchers. Therefore, after students complete their MA and PhD degrees, they can work at the university as instructors; after they complete their MA program without thesis at the Institute of Education Sciences they can be teachers or they can work as researchers at the public or private sector Research-Development labs.
In addition to this, the graduated students can work at the various ministries, Atomic Energy Institution, MKE, MTA, TSE, DİE, DPT, computer companies, oil refineries; and they can also establish their own jobs. The graduated students who complete double major program and minor program have more opportunities in finding good jobs.
